Demo email setup

I've configured the email_config.xml file as per the installation guide. I'm receiving the error:

"The email server settings have not been set.
Edit the file "~/pentaho-demo/pentaho-solutions/system/smtp-email/email_config.xml" and add your SMTP settings.
Restart the server or choose "Update Settings and Content" from the "Settings and Services" or "Advanced" pages.

For more information see the Quick Start Guide"

The server log has this entry(PentahoAuditLog.log) :

I've tried using my corporate SMTP server and my website's smtp server, still no luck.

Some simple checks first - did you update the repository with your new email settings after you modified the email-config.xml?

You perform this update either by restarting your appserver, or by navigating to the Update page in our demo samples and executing an Update:

From the demo home page, choose "Settings and Services". Then choose "Update Settings and Content".
Click the "Publish" link next to the "System Settings" option.



If you've tried this with no luck, please attach your email-config.xml and your server log with your post and we will investigate further:) Remember to replace any sensitive data (email address, smtp server) with bogus values before posting!

rwaegner, fill the
mail.userid and mail.password tags (in the email_config.xml file) with something, just not to leave them empty

i got your problem too and i filled that tags. the result was a successfully sent email

I checked the email_config.xml. Looks like it is setup correctly. I filled in the user name and password. Still no luck.

This is working now. I was not paying close attention to what I was changing. I put in a user name and password in the e-mail_smtp.xml as suggested in an earlier post.

I'm asked to evaluate Pentaho for our company and i'm new to it. i'm using the preconfigured installation but to test the "Hello world email" i have the following error message:

Server Version 1.2.1 build 625 GA

I copied and pasted the content of the file email_config_gmail into the file email_config.xml and i added my user id (with this format user@gmail.com)and password i saved it and i updated the repository and system settings but i still have the same error message.

Please is there some one who can help me

I have solved this problem for a while ago. But please send it your email config paramester (except the password) so we can look where is the error.
