How to change the first page and layout?

Hi guys

I am new-hand in Java and Potal, but I want to prepare a Demo of Pentaho solutions to my boss, it looks very good! :)
But I don't know how to change the first page to my face
1. in the first page: http://localhost:8080/pentaho/Navigate
I want to remove the items: [A Collection of Samples and Examples] & [Settings and Services], only keep the Portal sample, and change the icon something etc.

2. Further, I want to reduce some item from the portal page, for example, now the portal has items as following:

Home/Getting Started/Reporting/Business/Rules/Printing/Bursting/Dashboard/Datasource/Secure/Advanced/[default]/

But I just want to keep [report] and [Dashboard].

What should I do, anyone kindly give me a head by steps?

Hi, I have the same problem, I know well different language of scripting but I have some difficulties to make a customized version of the portal. Infact I have difficulties to understand where are the home page of this portal and what can I do to modify it

Have u resolva something?
