There is a statement on the website that says :
"Expose all aspects of the platform as web services".

Can someone from Pentaho elaborate on this please? More specifically, how does one go about writing soap clients for these services if that is at all possible.

Also, the architecture diagram shows a services/UDDI block. But I dont see any mention of wsdl or UDDI anywhere else.

Is wsdl generation of current Pentaho services supported? What about a UDDI regitry?

We might need to have a non-java client build an interface and access the service, hence the focus.

Thanks.

Hi

I'd like to bring this topic into focus again, as I am also interested in an answer.

Thanks, Tobias

Did either previous poster get anywhere with utilizing Pentaho data via Web Services?

Any luck creating a non-java SOAP client to consume Pentaho data?

Thanks -

Steve

No, sorry. We postponed this part of the project, so I didn't try anything in that direction yet.

I am investigating this as well, but with no success.

It appears this is an issue defined in JIRA

http://jira.pentaho.org/browse/PLATFORM-38

So for now the claim that Pentaho exposes Action sequences as a web service is very misleading.

This is quite disappointing.

"Web services" is a vague term and usually requires clarification wherever it is used. Perhaps the Pentaho documentation should be modified to add clarification. Regardless, the Pentaho BI Platform exposes functionality over the Internet. Please see forum posts here (http://forums.pentaho.org/showthread.php?t=51754) and here. Most clients would expect to send SOAP as well as receive SOAP. How would I pass in my Action Sequence Input parameters?

My posts are here to get a good understanding of the product capabilities but also to hopefully help Pentaho prioritize what needs to be implemented in future releases.
