Hi, any plan to provide a GUI to create report definition file ?

Hi Chuck,

Another developer has talked about having a go at this...I hope he does, as it would make reports much easier to design.

Hmmm ... until then, exactly how would I go about designing a report?

Say, for instance, that I want a simple report based upon the query: "Select * from users"

Is the report designed first? (i.e. do I have to create a .xml file that describes the column layout?) Or can jfreereport create a report "on the fly" from such a query?

Hi Chuck
Is a GUI to create a report definition file something like a report writer?
(something like CrystalReports or the report editor in MS Access)...

If so, are you also attempting to develop a report writer? I'm curious because I am also attempting to do this and I was wondering if you'd like to share notes.
