Parameters?

Hi.
I have been working with Kettle for about 1 week now... It seems to be a very good etl tool... but I was wondering.. Does anybody know about Parameters?


1- Is there any other way to implement parameters inside a transformation than adding a variable at the command line (kettlew -D param_name=param_Value)?



2- I also saw that in Chef, when we call another Job or a Transformation, we can pass Arguments? Are these arguments parameter? If yes... how do we define a parameter in a Transformation?... I did not find anything in the documentation?

Just a quick reply:

You can use command line parameters 1-10 to parameterise your transformation.
Grab them from the System Info step. You can then use this input as input for TableInput, ...

Finally, you can take the Rows out of the result from a previous transformation in a Job.
Use "Get rows from result" (read) and "Copy rows to result" (write) to achieve this goal.
