How do i add new variables?

Add them to the launch scripts spoon.bat/.sh or pan.bat/.sh by passing the -D option to the java virtual machine:
-DNEW_VARIABLE=SomeValue
In the coming week(s) we will have a step that can do this by accepting an input row.
