Actually, to be more specific, the questions are fine --

Download Form with 'Required to supply your name, address, contact' that is a blocker and should not be needed to simply download the software.

If you absolutely require that information, link with the forum login and/or expect people to go to sf.net to download.

I agree with this post. A simple solution to get user data is to make download wizard visible only in a secured section, after a succesfull user logon.
