'Update Solution Repository' doesn't work

I am running the pre-configured install "Pentaho BI Platform 1.7.1.1117". I set it to use a rdbms based repository. Everything worked fine, including permissions and updating of the solution repository.

Since today, and without any changes to my installation (right now I am the only user of that server), the button 'Update Solution Repository' has no effect any more. My updated versions of xaction or report definition files do not get used. Only if I click 'Restore Repository' my new files get loaded into the repository... but then I loose all ACL settings, of course, so this is not what I want.

When clicking the button there seems to be no error, the popup appears and tells me everything has been done. Also the server is not throwing any errors or warnings at that time.

Any ideas? Since the 'Restore Repository' button works I can assume that db connectivity is fine, so I am a bit lost in my search for the cause.

I found out that on the server everything is running correctly. The problem seems to be my web-browser. Since today I was trying the beta of MSIE 8 and in this browser it simply doesn't work. If I do the same in Firefox it works just fine.

What is actually going on when I click this button? Which MSIE setting is getting in my way? It does not seem to be a page caching issue, once I update the repository using Firefox my MSIE will show the change immediately. I added my server to MSIE's trusted sites. Afterwards it worked exactly once but then again not any more. What does this function depend on? Some cookie or anything else MSIE's security functions might find untrustworthy?
