Metadata for Data Integration

Hi everybody,

I didn't know if I should ask this question here or in the data integration forum. Well it has something to do with the Metadata Editor so I'm here ;).

I would like to do the following:
I have to different data sources, one with data of the last two days and one with data of the period -2 days until -1 year. I cannot use any data warehouse or some persistant staging area. But I would like to enable the user to use the Ad Hoc Reporting feature of the BI Suite.

What did I do:
I set up a data integration which gets two parameters (one for start and one for end date). Than I just get the data from the two data sources and append those sorted.

But within the Meta Data Editor I cannot use the data integration as input (or better as data source). I had this idea because the Report Designer can use the data integration as input.

How would you solve my problem. Its kind of an EII problem!

At the moment, Pentaho Metadata does not support multiple datasources for a single business model. I haven't tried it yet, but I would take a look at Redhat's Teiid as a possible solution:

You could build a virtual data warehouse, and then point Pentaho Metadata to it using JDBC.

I guess this is a really important feature! Especially if Pentaho writes EII on their flags! This Teiid thing looks promising, but its quite a little bit said, that you have a wonderful PDI and you cannot use the results of it (well at least you can do that with the Report Designer... so I hope it will be available soon for the PMD)!
