This is a really old post, but did you ever improve the situation? I don't see anything obviously bad in the code around the PDI side of things, you seem to be doing the right things.
There is a...
this is caused by not having a valid pentaho analysis services license. Awful error eh? :)
I'm also after a solution to this, anyone know it?
I've written down some thoughts about PCM and links to further details here:
Yup, London won by a significant margin.
You can find details here:
The next PLUG event is fast approaching and it looks like we're going to have some pretty interesting points for discussion. We will hear about Apache OODT as used by NASA. We'll hear about building...
Hi, our next Pentaho London meetup is 18th September, you can register and find details here:
We have some legends speaking,...
Just over a week to go until the next Pentaho London usergroup. We have an amazing lineup, 5 rockstars covering the latest and greatest in the BigData and Pentaho space. Register here:...
however you can workaround the timeout see here:
But i'd also like to know if it's possible to use c3p0 in pdi.
So the answer is no.
In fact there's a bug here. If you have a partitioned step, going into a mapping, only the first partition is passed.
I have a stream that is partitioned. I want to pass that stream into a mapping which is expecting the same partitioned stream.
How can I do that?
I don't want to partition the mapping...
OK just as I suspected, thanks!
Is the output of the Memory Group By step guaranteed to be sorted?
i.e. if we want sorted stream later on, can we use this step? or should we always use sort and group separate steps?
Yes, you can do this in mysql by adding the rewriteBatchedStatements true property to the connection.
As the JDBC driver does this it'll depend on the database you are using.
Hi, this is probably one for devs, or those guys who keep a close eye on the PDI codebase.
I had a problem with error handling on the user defined java expression step. The step handles 500k...
great thanks. Turns out the PRD bug is fixed in CI, so may be a better option to upgrade the libs instead! Good to know I have 2 options.
Hi, due to a bug i need to downgrade PRD in PDI 5.0 back to 3.9.1. If I just downgrade the libraries will this work?
I guess I'll try it and see! Seems unlikely that the step is using any new...
OK, so it works if it's a separate stream. Don't link a hop into it otherwise you'll hang!
And the lack of steps in the dropdown is already reported here: http://jira.pentaho.com/browse/PDI-9727
Any hints as to how this works?
There's no sample, I tried a few ways to make it work in current trunk build and both times:
1) I can never get the step names to appear in the dropdown...
So yeah, go with saiku, or pivot4j
Errm, does http://jira.pentaho.com/browse/PDI-2565 help? This is being fixed and/or about to be comitted shortly... May be worth trying a CI build once this issue is fixed!
an individual step is not typically parallelised - if it is then you have to use "partitioning" to work around these issues - essentially ensuring all the right records go to the right thread.
dont use sort rows - use the blocking step to achieve this ( altho it still spools to disk so will still be slow )
Question is why didnt blocking step do what you want? its definately the step to...
thanks, the group rows step will do it for me with the all rows option after all - i had somehow misunderstood that step.
I wanted to avoid splitting and merging because of the risk of a hang in...
with luck the session should be recorded and available online. Thats no excuse for those local though!
Hi, just a quick note to promote the next Pentaho London Usergroup, which will be on 30th January at Skillsmatter. This quarter the event takes on a distinct MongoDB theme. Details can be found here:...
Ooh; an interesting one. A quick glance at it however and it only passes rows once the "step" you're interested in has finished. I need this to stream through. i.e. i just want a count of 2 on the...
Came across something today which sounds simple, but turns out I can't see a native way to do it!
Essentially i want a running total/count, possibly I want it conditional in the future.
good question - see this jira - I and others on the forum cannot get it to work either :(
I'm having the same issue, so I raised this jira. I hope samples can be provided to show how it should work!
yeah can't find any doco on those or how to use them??
I found a workaround for anyone else with this issue. Do it as a CDA query, define a selector with no html element which never appears and...
we are EE.
I tried the master build, but it has no jars in the lib folder. So it seems broken. Also the download is 25mb where the 3.5 one is more like 60mb. However i found a mondrian.jar...
hmm ok which build on ci is 3.6 then? Or isnt there one? In which case where can i get the 3.6 jar?
oh; according to jira that fix has not been backported to 3.x mondrian :( only fixed in 4.0!
ahhhh ha. Many thanks, that is _exactly_ it. I'll download a 3.6jar and check.
I read somewhere that mondrian is very aware that count distinct's can't be aggregated if you're using agg tables.
So; It seems to me therefore that this means if it can't find an exactly...
Been trying to do this on and off a few times recently, in various different cases. I.e. a classic one, i want to default a parameter to a value from a session variable.
I can see you can...
Hi, the next Pentaho London Usergroup will be on 16th Oct.
Register below and find more details, don't miss it if you're in the area!
Actually I think a safer fix is to say default 0 instead....
Are you using the dev version of CTools? If not then upgrade to that first, I found it fixed some pretty terminal issues.
Custom parameters are great for defaulting initial values of parameters, e.g. setting a date parameter to today.
However there is an issue with them. The first time you access a "custom...
I had the same problem, but "upgrading" CDE/CDF to the dev branch fixed the problem ( -b dev with ctools-installer.sh )
Turns out you have to use dev CDF/CDE and then it works.
Ah, here is the full error stack. IT seems like jquery doesnt even get going:
SCRIPT1028: Expected identifier, string or number
scripts.js, line 6372 character 298
SCRIPT5009: 'jQuery' is...
I saw a post from Pedro back in December saying the dashboards should broadly work in IE8.
However they don't even render at the moment.
Here is the error:
SCRIPT5007: The value of...
ah interesting. Hope we hear more about that at #PCM13!
great that works thanks!
That ticks off one of your jiras then - about graduations in pies!
Is it possible to do faded / graduated colours on the bars in a Pentaho report chart?
Reading online I thought I may be able to do this in a beanshell, but it doesnt make any difference:
lol genius. I like it.
