    Default Schedule & Moniter Jobs in Kettle

    Hi,

    How to schedule the Jobs/Transformations in Kettle,

    Suppose I wanna to run one transformation daily at 6 PM , wher do I do this ?

    and also once it is scheduled, where can I moniter whether the transformation executing correctly or not ? Is there a saperate monitor window like other ETL tools which shows set of jobs scheduled on particular day and its status of running (Failure/Suceeded)

    Thank you so much,
    Nagender

    Not in PDI, you need to use an external scheduler like at or cron using pan/kitchen for now.

    Not yet... you can log to tables and send out success/failure mails. Also feel free to add comments/vote for http://jira.pentaho.org/browse/PDI-286

    Default Schedule & Moniter Jobs -- a java approach

    Create a shell script or bat file that has content like this kitchen_job.bat and schedule the script.
    rem--- kitchen_job.bat
    @echo off
    d:
    cd D:\projects\Pentaho\
    kitchen %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9
    rem-------

    I've had good luck with a java-based job scheduler
    http://www.sos-berlin.com/modules/cj...duction_en.htm

    On this scheduler, I use the job file name as the parameter, like this
    <job name = "kitchen_job">
    <process file = "jobs\kitchen_job.bat" param = "/file:ChargeDataMartJob.kjb">
    </process>
    <run_time let_run="no">
    <period let_run="no" single_start="04:00"/>
    </run_time>
    </job>

    SOS job scheduler gives monitoring and reporting on the scheduled jobs.

    Default job scheduling in pentahoo..

    Hi,
    I have done the running of transformations and jobs using the rabbit job scheduler. It works fine. But still for some requirments I need to do the scheduling for the transformations withing the kettle(pentaho).

    Is there any way or method to do the same in Pentaho.

    Regards,
    Chanchal Singh

    Obviously, the Pentaho platform uses the quartz scheduler and has a Kettle Component to launch transformations and/or jobs.
