about data types

Hi,
I use SQLLookupRule component to get a query result.I define the action-outputs variable as string type.but when
I look at the variable's value.System report the variable's data type
is'org.pentaho.core.connection.memory.MemoryResultSet'.how can I get the String value.

Hi Carol,

When you want to retrieve a single value from a result set you can do that in a javascript action.

e.g.

my_string = query_result.getValueAt(0,0).toString();

query_result is the name of the result set and my_string is then the output variable of the javascript action containing the String.
