Thumbs up Pentaho Data Integration 3.1.0 Milestone 2

    Dear Kettle fans,

We're releasing Milestone 2 of version 3.1.0 a bit faster than the previous incarnation.

Even though it's only been a few weeks since milestone 1, we've managed to resolve 49 JIRA cases, 10 improvements and new features and 39 bug fixes. We're projecting to go into feature freeze (M3/RC1) around May 22nd.

Please remember that a milestone release is essentially a development version and not suitable for production use.

    Enjoy Kettle!

    Matt

    Default Insert/update -- slow

There any reason for that to happen as follows:

With the same database, same environment Insert / update step is slower in M2 that M1

    M1 -- 450 r/s
    M2 -- 20 r/s

Not that I'm aware of, no. Insert/Update didn't get changed between both releases. Please post your transformation or better yet file a bug report.

Default How does 3.0.4 relate to these milestones?

I have 3.0.4 installed currently and updates are incredibly slow.

Question Does repository require an update to 3.1.0?

Is there anything we are supposed to do to upgrade the repository for 3.1.0? Or is this automatic when you first access the repository from a new version?

It's not automatic, but it does tell you if you need to do anything.
In any case, I don't think we changed anything in the repository schema.

Exclamation Bug to create a repository db connection on 3.1.0-M2

    Hi there,

I've just tried to create a new repository db connection on 3.1.0-M2, and it seems to have a little bug about that.

I don't know if this bug has been already raised but in case if it is not., Here is what happened :
    - I launched spoon.bat (on Windows XP)
    - On "Select a repository" windows, I clicked "New" button.
    - Then "Repository information" windows appeared, I click on "New" button to create a db connection.
    - The "Database Connection" opened BUT lost the windows focus when you click on it . Then you cannot entered any information cause of the lost of the focus. Instead it's the previous windows which got the focus.

Well when you cancelled everything, kettle throwed the following fatal error : SWTException: Widget is disposed.

    I hope I was clear.

Does anyone has the same behaviours ?

BTW, Do you think in the future version we will be able to use some KETTLE VARIABLES in the repository connection information? (like explain in this thread : http://forums.pentaho.org/showthread.php?t=60496 )

    Cheers,
    Michel.

The next release (RC1) will carry the fix for this problem: http://jira.pentaho.com/browse/PDI-1256
