    Default Default Username and Password in Admin Console

    Dear Colleagues,

    I am a new comer to BI Server and Platform. I only have experience with the Pentaho ETL tool.

    I just downloaded the version 2.0 of the BI Server and Platform. I am running this on Windows XP.

    1. I configured the console.xml file in the directory on my machine, namely: D:\biserver-ce\administration-console\resource\config.

    2. Afterwards, I executed the start-pentaho.bat file and then

    3. I executed the startup.bat file for the Administration Console.

    4. I proceeded to my Mozilla Firefox browser and entered: http://localhost:8099/ which resulted in a logon dialog box being presented.

    This all sounds rather positive, but I am not aware of any user name and password that I should enter in order to gain entry. Is there a standard admin account? If so, what is the user name and password to get started?

    Apparently the hsqldb was started when I executed the start-pentaho.bat file as demonstrated by the output below. Can someone please give me insight on how to proceed or what I have fundamentally not done?

    Best regards,

    Charles

    Dear Carlos,

    Thank you for your feedback. After reading the referenced thread, I ascertained that the default user name/password is:

    admin/password

    This enabled me to logon!

    However, I was then promptly given the following error message:

    HTTP/1.1 404 Not found

    This is probably because I received the error message that the port 8080 is already in use when Tomcat was started and gave the error message:

    Dec 15, 2008 1:26:11 PM org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11BaseProtocol init
    SEVERE: Error initializing endpoint
    java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind:8080
    at org.apache.tomcat.util.net.PoolTcpEndpoint.initEndpoint(PoolTcpEndpoi
    nt.java:298)

    How do I configure Tomcat such that it uses a different port, for example 8084?

    Or does the error message "HTTP/1.1 404 Not found" mean something else?

    Best regards,

    Charles

    charlesr,

    You can change the port Tomcat is running on by opening up the /tomcat/conf/server.xml file and editing this line:

    Code:
    <!-- Define a non-SSL HTTP/1.1 Connector on port 8080 -->
    <Connector port="8080" … />
    However I don't think you need to change the port, just shutdown Tomcat and restart your server and run the BI Server then the Administrator Console.

    just as information..
    you can change the port of the admin console in biserver-ce/administration-console/resource/config/console.properties by changing console.start.port.number=8099
