Default How to use the metadata injector step?

    Hi,
I had a look at the sample provided with PDI and when I open the Metadata Injection step I can see the tree like representation of the referenced transformation.
Now, if I create this myself, I can perfectly reference another transformation, but I don't see a tree-like representation of the transformation (only the name of the transformation itself with no expend icon). When I click the Edit button the referenced transformation opens perfectly.
I am not too sure if this a bug ... I would expect the tree-like representation to show up once I reference the other transformation ... but this behaviour is consistent across PDI 4.1 stable and 4.2 M1.
So I am wondering ... I am doing something wrong? Do I have to activate something else or define some setting somewhere for this to work?
(my own transformation, that I am referencing has pretty much the same steps as the one from the example).
    Any ideas? Thanks.
    Best regards,
    Diethard

It's just a refresh bug Diethard. Simply hit ok and re-open the dialog.

Thanks a lot for your feedback ...
    Code:

Yes, I tried this before ... and this is when the transformation name shows up in the grid, but not any steps etc.

I've attached my simple transformation. The aim is to specify dynamically which parameters to extract from the URL. Any ideas why this might not be working? (I don't see the Split fields step in my Metadata Injection step).

    @justin: Thanks ... I've seen this video.

The following steps support injection of metadata:

    "CSV Input"
    "Excel Input"
    "Select Values"
    "row De-normalizer"
    "row normalizer"

So, the golden rule is: if the step doesn't show up, it's not supporting metadata injection yet.

    Hi Matt,
Many thanks for the clarification! Can you please share which steps are next in line for metadata injection support?
It would be great to get support for the Group By, sort steps and a few other ones.
    Best regards,
    Diethard

There's no specific priority other than folks asking for injection support in a step. Just put the feature requests in JIRA.
