Hi. I am running PCI installation of Pentaho. I would like customizing portal framework running on:

http://localhost:8080/portal/portal/Pentaho/%5B01%5DHome

i mean i would like to customize appearance tasks, literals and so on. But i have no idea, after a O.S directories and web's.xml files or pentaho.xml file examination, how to do it.

It is content showed on portal under a DB?. I mean inside Hypersonic DB?.

Thanks in advance.

To customize the look and feel of the portal requires detailed knowledge of the JBoss portal. The JBoss portal documentation can be found at http://www.jboss.com/products/jbossportal/docs.

Hello,

some simple changes can be made without detailed knowledge of the JBoss portal. I heavily modified the PCI version to fit my needs. You can change the literals used in the PCI version by modifying the *.properties files located in /jboss/server/default/deploy/pentaho.war/WEB-INF/. If you want to change the appearance you can edit the *.css files in /jboss/server/default/deploy/pentaho-style.war/active/ and /jboss/server/default/deploy/pentaho-portal-layout.war/. And if you want to display your own pages and portlets you could use the contents of portlet.xml, pentaho-pages.xml and portlet-instances.xml as examples how to define your own pages.

Hope this helps
Florian

Hi Florian.

I edited /jboss/server/default/deploy/pentaho.war/WEB-INF/ with any results. Any suggestions?. The file is certainly
in relation with tab's names that portal displays, but when i change, to put an example:

# -- Page Titles --
Home=Inicio
GettingStarted=Comenzar

section, any change after refresh "repository solutions" it is made.

----------------------------------------------------------------

That's what i mean to customize portal or make a solutions, just an example:

· when a connect to

http://localhost:8080/pentaho/Navigate

i see portlet titled

"Demo de los componentes Pentaho BI"

that it is a portlet that redirect to me to http://localhost:8080/pentaho/Navigate, that it is exactly where i am. So
there is a way to drop this component?.

Another example, when i connect to http://localhost:8080/pentaho/Navigate i can see on right side of the screen
the literal

Pentaho Business Intelligence
Muestras y Ejemplos

How could i do to avoid or to change this literal.

Regards.

I think there is a misunderstanding here. The pages you mention are not portlets. These are the JSP pages. To change these literals do a file system search for files containing the literal. You should find some *.properties files. In these files you can change the literal.

To drop or change these pages you have to work with the solution directory. The content here automagically creates these pages. The Quick Start guide (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/pentaho/Pentaho_Quick_Start_1.1.1.pdf?download) Page 16 explains all the files very well.
