I have downloaded the pentaho demo 1.0.0.0 . After unzipping into the htdocs directory it does not seem to work even though i have successfully started the pentaho server. I see there are no jsp files in the main directory ; http://localhost:8080/pentaho , Appreciate any assistance.

regards

Hong

Hi Hong,

You don't need to unzip it to your htdocs dir...

Anyway, running start-pentaho.sh without any errors should make the Pentaho demo available on http://localhost:8080

Try again. I recommend downloading Pentaho_Quick_Start_1.1.3.pdf and taking a look at it for guidance.

Write back if you need any help.

Hi again,

You don't need Apache. And I don't think that leaving the demo on the htdocs is a good thing. Pentaho demo comes with an embedded JBoss server that will do the work. Try running the demo and access it directing your browser to http://localhost:8080 .

Verify that you don't have any other software using your 8080 port.

Hope it works,
Bruno

Hi Bruno, in that case do i need to shutdown the apache. if i am right, i just extract the demo into any directory, start the pentaho server. and point the browser to http://localhost:8080/. it would be able to run

Yes, that would be it!... As for Apache, normally it will run on port 80 but it may have been configured differently. To check it out you best point your browser to http://localhost:8080 before running the pentaho demo.

Also, keep an eye on the console for errors when you run the demo. If in doubt, post your log (you'll find it in pentaho-demo/jboss/server/default/log/server.log).
