View Full Version : How to connect to a sql server

05-15-2006, 11:39 PM

I'm a student apprentice in a company and i have to work with pentaho. My task is to use data, stored in a sql server, and make a visualisation of these data with pentaho.
Please explain me step by step, how I can connect to the database. I allready read the pdf-file "Creating Solutions" but I can't understand the whole issue. First of all, I want to use the reports contained in the preconfigured installation of pentaho with my own data stored in the ms sql server database.
Please tell me step by step, how I can do this.

Thanks for your help

Hey there,

We have technical training coming up in two weeks. Please see http://www.pentaho.org for more details.

Generally speaking, the forums are here to improve the project, find bugs, and generate new and improved documentation.

If you need a specific clarification on the information provided in the Creating Solutions guide, or if there are specific issues you're having, please ask.

It may also be helpful to look at the documentation for the Report Design Wizard (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/pentaho/Pentaho_Report_Design_Wizard_1.1.5.pdf?download),
and the Pentaho Design Studio (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/pentaho/Pentaho_Design_Studio_User_Guide_1.1.5.pdf?download).

Take care,
