Hi colleagues,

I'd like to use data from my MySQL database in Weka.
Even it might be a simple question for someone who has done this before, I still have problems connection my database.

I've downloaded J/Connector (mysql-connector-java-3.1.13-bin.jar) and have extracted the databaseUtils.prop from the weka.jar.

Can anybody tell me how to customize the prop-file and where to put the jar-file? Any futher settings?

By the way, I'm using MacOS.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi u.Buddel /myBuddelM,

you could use YALE (http://yale.sf.net/) as a WEKA wrapper to access a MySQL database. YALE seamlessly integrates all WEKA learners and meta-learners,offers a comfortable graphical user interface (GUI), and provides an easy-to-use database connection wizard. This database wizard allows you to easily connect to many databases including e.g. MySQL, Oracle, Microsoft Server, etc. and all those offering JDBC or ODBC drivers.

YALE is open-source software under the GPL, just like WEKA, and is freely available at SourceForge, just like WEKA and PENTAHO: http://yale.sf.net/

Best regards,
Ralf

Have you read the documentation?

(A quick search with 'Weka JDBC' on Google instantly pointed me to the Weka-Wiki.)

http://weka.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Databases
http://weka.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/CLASSPATH

Especially for drivers and other low-level stuff, it can be very usefull to put them into the $JRE/lib/ext directory. This way, you dont have to modify the classpath variable. (Dont try this with non-driver jars, as jars loaded from the ext-dir use a different classloader and you will run into funny troubles if you try that.)
