View Full Version : DATA from two tables converging into 1 output table.

Attachment: snapshot.jpg (http://forums.pentaho.org/archived_att/kettle/snapshot.jpg) I am manipulating around 7 input tables in my spoon IDE. 1 of the tables ( TABLE_X ) requires a different computation so what I did is TABLE_X have a separate path so that it data can pass through a different CALCULATOR.

So as you can see, there are two sides, 1 special calculation, and a normal calculation for other 6 tables. Each sides are working, however, when I try to dump them into 1 output table, there is an error (kettle is performing a rollback).

When I disable one side, the enabled side works. It goes the same for the other side. When I enable them both, there is a problem.

What do you think is the problem?

All rows entrering a step must have the same layout.
Even though the fields coming from a table may have the same name, the ORDER might be different.
This can sometimes be subtle to detect. You can see if this is the problem by forcing the order in the SelectValues first tab.
You probably did this in the "PRIMARY SELECT" step, but I would suggest doing it TWICE: one for the left side and one for the right. Because the Select Values step ALSO needs the layout to be the same for ALL input rows ;-)

Care to share the error details? That might help too.

Thanks in advance!
