Hello All,

Could anyone tell me how to install pentaho on a web host (both linux and windows platforms). I have uploaded the files pentaho-1.8-linux-opensource-installer.bin and pentaho-1.6.0GA-windows-opensource-installer.exe into the bin folder but I don't know how to run them.

you run the files like you'd run any file.

However if you're talking about a web hosted service you have, and it's not a box you manage yourselves then you're going to have to get the webhost / your provider to do the install.

I have to realise a comparative study about three ETL ( BI query, Pentaho, and Businness Objects )
So I have to use them in order to evaluate. But I don't know how to launch Pentaho or what I have to start with.

Please, help me!

I recommend starting at the Kettle home page (http://kettle.pentaho.org/). Kettle (also known as Pentaho Data Integration) is the ETL-component of Pentaho's BI Suite. On this page, you'll find FAQs, download links, and recorded demos.
