I am running mysql version 5.0.51b, and importing the sample data failed (downloaded from: svn://source.pentaho.org/svnroot/pentaho-data/trunk/mysql5/SampleDataDump_MySql.sql according to the instructions in the wiki document).

The reason was the memory table. In the file you will see:

CREATE MEMORY TABLE DATASOURCE(JNDINAME VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,MAXACTCONN INTEGER NOT NULL,DRIVERCLASS VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL,IDLECONN INTEGER NOT NULL,USERNAME VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL,PASSWORD VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL,URL VARCHAR(100) NOT NULL,QUERY VARCHAR(100) NOT NULL,WAIT INTEGER NOT NULL)

The part that matters is "CREATE MEMORY TABLE"

The proper format is CREATE TABLE.... ENGINE=MEMORY, like this:

CREATE TABLE DATASOURCE(
JNDINAME VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
MAXACTCONN INTEGER NOT NULL,
DRIVERCLASS VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL,
IDLECONN INTEGER NOT NULL,
USERNAME VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL,
PASSWORD VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL,
URL VARCHAR(100) NOT NULL,
QUERY VARCHAR(100) NOT NULL,
WAIT INTEGER NOT NULL) ENGINE = MEMORY;

I am still new to pentaho (and having a lot of problems with just getting it installed) so I hope this information helps improve the quality here. Is there somewhere else I should be posting this information?

Welcome!

I think this will need to be raised at jira.pentaho.org...
