View Full Version : undo discretization in weka

if I have a variable which has been discretized, is it possible to make it numeric again? In other words, does it exist a filter opposite to "discretize", which can be applied to a variable made previously nominal?

The problem is that I saved the file with the variable discretized, and now I want it to be numeric, but I cannot use the button "undo"!

Thanks a lot.

The "discretize" filter is not really a 1 to 1 numeric to nominal conversion. It groups the values into only a few bins. There's no way to get the exact number back.

It would be different had you used the "Numeric to nominal" filter, which simply changes the attribute type. :(
