Hi All:

I am now almost finished the book DATA MINING by Ian and Eibe, and I would like to reinforce the knowledge I have learnt or to test how well I understand it. Is there any good workbook or tutorial material or things like that for practice? Ideally, it would be using real commercial examples, with step by step answers, and weka oriented.

Thank you very much

Wen

HI Wen,

I don't think there is anything freely available that meets your requirements. There are some instructor materials available from Elsevier (including a set of assignments - no solutions unfortunately :-)):

Other tutorial/lab material for various data mining courses based on Weka does exist. Some of it I still have access to, but unfortunately it is copyright University of Waikato and I'm unable to distribute it.

Cheers,
Mark.

Hi Mark:

Great resource, especially the lecture notes make a clear and well-structured summary of the book.

I am still wanting to have some toturial materials with answers/solutions. Especially those written focusing on Weka. Can I purchase them from the university?

Thank you very much indeed!

Hi Wen,

I'm not sure if it is possible to buy resources from the University (they normally want you to enroll :-)). You could try contacting the CS office at Waikato - email:

cs@waikato.ac.nz

The course that would probably have the most appropriate material would be COMP321B Practical Data Mining:

Cheers,
Mark.

P.S. I read through the lecture notes and the quizzes, so worthing reading, even tho no answers provided but at least I am very clear about what is important and am shown the directions to think.
