Today we kicked off Data Access Sprint 2. Our big stories for this sprint include the ability to query CSV files in Ad hoc reporting and dashboard charting, primarily for evaluation purposes, as well as making GWT-RPC services first class plugins to the BI Platform. Also included in this sprint is the ability to control who can use the data access capabilities within the platform.

One of the behind the scenes stories is having the BI Platform use the new metadata library for all query execution. The MQLRelationalComponent and PMDUIComponent, as well as the PMDSystemListener will work with the new models and repository. A conversion process will work behind the scenes to convert the published XMI files to the new model.

Check out the full set of stories the team committed to over on the wiki:

We completed Data Access Sprint 2 last week. Some of the highlights include CSV based Metadata Models for easy evaluation, as well as support for GWT-RPC in Pentaho's plugin framework. Behind the scenes a lot of changes were made to the Metadata layer, including a new MetadataQueryComponent and the removal of CWM from the BI Platform. XMI is loaded directly into the thin models now, so it should be much more zippy!
