For those of you following the PAT releases we have a new version for you to test out, here's a run down of some of the changes:
Paul's implemented the first stage of a connection manager along with some demo modes that integrate with Pentaho BI Server.

I've rewritten the table model thanks to some code from Julian and the Olap4J project, so most of the table computation is now server side and much more efficient, also we have implemented the GWT Mosaic Live Table which buffers up tables > 150 rows so the web browser doesn't slow down if you try and render 10,000 rows.

Also some minor details, the old right click menu rubbish on the dimensions is still there, but we've swapped it to left click now so its not as badly hidden away, and there is also an mdx code editor thing, currently its just a textbox, but one of the guys is working on a self formatting, color coding wonderous rich text editor that will be available in 0.5.

Anyway head over to the download site, and grab a copy:

When they say they will accept any ones help they really mean it, any help is useful, even if you just fix a typo in a label. I put together the rather rubbish CSS on the log in screen in about an hour on a Friday afternoon, if you have any time at all to spare it is useful and helps push the project into a more polished state.

I won't even complain if you build a better log in page (it shouldn't be too hard) ;)

If you want to help out but have no idea where to start come join us in the ##pentaho.pat IRC room or on the mailing list (http://groups.google.com/group/pentahoanalysistool-dev) Check out the wiki here: http://code.google.com/p/pentahoanalysistool/wiki/StartPage?tm=6 for some basic info on how to get the code up and running and the way the project is laid out.

Good luck and may your code be bug free :)

Hi PATies :D,

great work!!! I love it! And I love the roadmap more ...

This tool brings pentaho to the front of bi-solutions!

Please go ahead. I hope the Pentaho Corp. gives you as much support as possible to integrate PAT into the bi-suite.

Thanks for the message, PAT is certainly heading in the right direction and hopefully we'll have some impressive stuff to show off by barcelona, looking ahead, BI server integration is certainly high on the agenda, and the Pentaho Devs are certainly guiding us in the right direction with all that stuff.

times like this mythical creation that none of us have... anyway I just cram most of it into my work schedule and 4am starts. That being said, as much as I moan about my place of employment, basically I'm a glorified photocopier at the moment, but that gives me the added bonus of being able to work on my own stuff when I don't have to do real work. Although that time is becoming less and less.
