View Full Version : PAT 0.8 Released

07-15-2010, 09:11 AM
Hi PAT-fans,

for those of you who didn't notice, PAT 0.8 was released today!
New Features:

New Query Design workflow
Drill Up (opposite of Drill Replace)
Major improvements of drill support
Fix saving queries (especially on mondrian connections)
Inline schema editor
Re-Save queries
Basic Role support
Multiple Hierarchies

!!! Loading a saved query doesn't show the selections but you can execute the query anyway. And the Drag and Drop query design may still have a few issues. We know about it and will fix this as soon as possible !!!

You can access an online demo at our new server (donations are still welcome ;-)
Feedback is very welcome and needed. Please take some time to give us some feedback (info@analytical-labs.com) and/or file JIRA (http://jira.pentaho.com/browse/PAT)'s!

You can download the following packages:

- PAT Standalone pre-configured server for Windows (http://pentahoanalysistool.googlecode.com/files/pat-server-0.8.zip) and Linux/Mac (http://pentahoanalysistool.googlecode.com/files/pat-server-0.8.tar.gz)
Download, Extract, run start-patserver.bat / start-patserver.sh and access it via http://localhost:8080/

- PAT Standalone WAR (http://pentahoanalysistool.googlecode.com/files/pat-0.8.war)
Just drop the WAR file into your favourite Java Webserver and access it via e.g: http://localhost:8080/pat-0.8/
PAT will use per default an in-memory HSQLDB for persistence, so if you restart its all gone.
You can change the settings in tomcat/webapps/pat-0.8/WEB-INF/pat.properties

- PAT Plugin (http://pentahoanalysistool.googlecode.com/files/pat-plugin-0.8.zip) (works with biserver 3.6)
Just download and extract the bundle into your pentaho-solutions/system folder
When you start up the User Console just look out for a blue cube icon :-)

- PAT User Guide (http://pentahoanalysistool.googlecode.com/files/PAT_User_Guide.pdf)
The user guide explains how to use and configure the pat-server and pat-plugin

For those of you who are interested in the bleeding edge versions of PAT, we have set up a continuous integration environment:
- CI PAT Standalone WAR (http://ci.analytical-labs.com/job/pat-standalone-war/)
- CI PAT pre-configured server (http://ci.analytical-labs.com/job/pat-standalone-server/)
- CI PAT plugin (http://ci.analytical-labs.com/job/pat-plugin/) (without biserver)

Don't hesitate to contact us in case you need some further information, assistance with the download packages, or want to contribute!

Have fun!

I've downloaded PAT-0.8.war today and moved it to my tomcat webapps folder.
My problem is that it never ends deploying.

I get this with a blinking cursor at the end:

Hi there,

i am having some problems with the plugin as the Automatic Pentaho XMLA connection is not working.
"There has been an error regarding the Connection. Please contact the system administrator: It was not possible to establish a connection.

In tomcat i see a 401 error in the url I guess it has to do with permissions? What is the correct username and password, i guess it should the be the admin username and password of pentaho, right?

Thanks for helping.

well euhm PAT is kind off dead now it is saiku...
so what version of the bi-server are you using pat in ? it might be better to change to saiku because it's better supported and newer...

10-13-2011, 07:25 AM
Thanks for the reply, i could solve the situation creating a new connection.

2.2 should be released really soon... until then you can find our latest and greatest at http://ci.analytical-labs.com/job/saiku-server/

I'm very new to Pentaho so I'm not exactly sure what is Saiku? Is it an add-in to Pentaho?

11-03-2011, 04:42 AM
it is an extra module for the pentaho BI-server OR a standalone server !
And it is very easy to add to the pentaho bi-server just download extract to the corect folders restart the server and it works !

11-03-2011, 04:45 AM
Yes it is. If you install (aka, copy) it into the BI server, you'll see (after restarting the server) a new type of document you can create. It's similar to the regular Analysis View, looks better, but is a bit more limited.
I don't know if you still need it after the BI Suite 4.0 release...

11-05-2011, 04:54 AM
To add to hansva's explaination, Saiku allows you to provide OLAP analysis of data cubes. It used to be called PAT, and is a replacement for the JPivot tool that is shipped with the CE version of the bi-server.

Ok, I installed Saiku as a plugin (version 2.2)

none of the charts are working, any ideas why not (the bar, line etc buttons show up) but it says it can't render the chart
