Hello all.

While I am not very new to Pentaho and I have done few reports, i am not that mastered yet. I need some information. We are going to do some reports for a client. The Question is if develop reports in the using the Community version of Pentaho - can we deploy the report in to the Enterprise edition of Pentaho??? (I think the client uses Enterprise edition of Pentaho)
Are there any steps that we need to do to acheive this or will there be issues ??

Yes, any report developed with the community edition happily runs with the enterprise edition - without any changes needed, of course. After all, enterprise is about adding value, not taking features away :)

Thank You for the clarification. That makes life easier!

I would like to understand the difference between the Community products and Enterprise edition ( apart from Price - I understand Enterprise is a paid version and Community is free). Is there some place where I can compare these changes or feature difference??

Dashboards are part of the BI-Server. Pentaho Reporting (the reporting engine of Pentaho) does not build dashboards, it builds reports. A report can be part of a dashboard, but it is not a dashboard in itself. Dashboards are meant to be highly dynamic, with focus on interactivity, while reports have their focus on durability, printing and filing.

The Dashboard infrastructure is the same between CE and EE, they both use CDF (Community Dashboard Framework)

The easy drag and drop template based end user UI is only available in EE as a plugin, but you have all the power and customization available in CE. To fully utilize CDF in CE you need some basic Web 2.0 type skills but the sky's the limit on what you can do.

WebDetails is the main contributor to CDF and is a development partner with Pentaho. There is a lot of good info on their website and they also sell tutorials.
