Default CTools for Pentaho 4.8: manual install. Help!!

    Hello Forum,

I'm running Pentaho 4.8 on a network behind a proxy, so I cannot access Marketplace.
I want to extend my solution adding dashboards and crosstabs I can develop using CTools, but I need a way to download and manually install the correct version for Pentaho 4.8.
I tried directions in this link
    http://pedroalves-bi.blogspot.it/201...lable-cdf.html
but it results in a pentaho exception at login (no surprise, as, reasonably, 5.0 Ctools are not expected to work on Pentaho 4.8).

What would suit me perfectly is equivalent directions for tools on Pentaho 4.8 (would it be too optimistic to expect that I just need the links to a different version of the .zip archives?)

    Please help.

    Stelvio.

    It's as simple as that.

I'd suggest using the ctools installer http://www.webdetails.pt/ctools/ctools.html or even download the individual installers: http://www.webdetails.pt/ctools/cde.html (this for CDE, follow the site for the others).

The ctools-installer has the correct urls

    Indeed, it is!

I was a bit lost with the different options (zips, jars and .sh installer, as I'm running on Windows).
However, fixing the proxy issue for Marketplace (including proxy requiring authentication), in my view, would be very welcome.

    Thanks a lot.

Pedro, if you read this post ...

As you can read in this other thread on this very same forum (http://forums.pentaho.com/showthread...on-Penthao-4-8) I'm still in trouble.
My goal is to be able to use BTable, which has the CD "suite" as a prerequisite, sort of.
I apparently succeeded in installing using the CD jars, as you pointed out, but then after a shutdown/restart nothing was working anymore.
Unfortunately, not even my pre-existing set of Pentaho reports (built on metadata, using Report Designer).

Apart from the reboot, I did not make any changes to my environment. At least, not intentionally, on not to my awareness.

Any hints as to where I should look for errors?

This (copied from the other thread) is the error massage that worries me most:

09:27:43,854 ERROR [GenericServlet] GenericServlet.ERROR_0002 - Could not get content generator: pentaho-cdf
09:27:44,695 ERROR [GenericServlet] GenericServlet.ERROR_0004 - Resource /reporting/reportviewer/cdf/cdf-module.js not found in plugin reporting

(Mind you: reportviewer/cdf does not exist in my installation, and does not exist on another server in which I did not run the CD jars and my reports are still working. cdf-module.js exists somewhere else in both installations, but it's an empty file; sometimes 0-length, sometimes 1-lenght because it includes a linefeed)

check start of server log (pentaho.log and catalina.out) for any startup error messages for CDF.

Finally, the only way out I found was to copy cgg, cda, pentaho-cdf and pentaho-cdf-dd folders from a (proxy-less) server on which they had been installed using Marketplace.

I have no idea what the jar installation is doing wrong.
