Default Not able to connect with vertica from PDI.

    Hi,

I am also trying to access vertica from PDI. But getting below exception:

Error connecting to database [verticatest] : org.pentaho.di.core.exception.KettleDatabaseException:
Error occured while trying to connect to the database

    Exception while loading class
    com.vertica.Driver

    org.pentaho.di.core.exception.KettleDatabaseException:
Error occured while trying to connect to the database

    Exception while loading class
    com.vertica.Driver

I am using 4.3.0-GA version of PDI.

Please let me know it is possible in this version or not.

    Thanks

Maybe you need to copy the vertica JDBC driver to the libext/JDBC folder.

    Hi,

I got the same error before.
The reason of the problem is that from version 5.1, the driver name package changed from com.vertica.Driver to com.vertica.jdbc.Driver, and there is no support for it in Kettle, at least for version 4.3-GA, that I checked before.

    There're four solutions:
    1. Using "Generic Database" connection type, where you can specify the JDBC driver name and all the parameters, including jdbc url
    2. Use ODBC (didn't check it by myself)
    3. Use JNDI configuration, where you specify the driver name by yourself.
    4. Fix the code in Kettle that loads the driver in org.pentaho.di.core.database.VerticaDatabaseMeta

    Thanks for reply

    Solution 1 works for me.
