Default How to work with short date values

    Hello,

after beeing using Pentaho for at least a year I finally registered to the forum because I have now a problem I have not been able to solve.

When loading some excel-data via the "Microsoft Excel Input"-step and then executing it I get an error about the date-formating. I formated the data-type of the mentioned field as date with a format of "dd.mm.yyyy". But now comes the problem: what about dates passed in the format of "12.03.89" or "20.4.02" or worst-case "4.2.09"? What format can I use to also import these kind of input?

    Thanks for your help

You are talking about date values coming from text cells?

    Try d.M.yy as format.
So long, and thanks for all the fish.

    Hi,

thanks for your reply. Actually I managed the problem by simply leaving the date-format out. The hint was that for database-application it does not matter in which format the date-values are stored since date-values are nothing different but usual numbers - which have indeed no format.

    Thanks however

    Thanks for your reply,

I finally managed the issue by simply ignoring the format of the date.

    Thanks however...

I finally managed the problem by simply ignoring the date-format and writing its value as string into the table. Thus I can use the database-logic to transform date-values which is more flexible to me.

    Thanks however
