Default Output steps metrics, How to use

We are looking at this step under Statistics group which appears to provide detailed information on steps that were processed. Does anyone have a simple sample how to use this step in a transformation? I tried a couple of configuration which did not produce any results.

    Thank you

Drag this step into your transformation, no need to connect it to any step.
Just enter the name of the steps you are interested in, manually.
Check the result using preview mode from the context menu of the Output Steps Metrics step.
So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Default Output Step Metrics, 10000 Row limit: my mistyake or a bug?

Hi, I'm new to this forum.

I'm trying to count the number of rows in some text files, and the rows I put in a Postgres table. Sort of "etl quality control".
Seems to be perfect, until I process short txt files. But, for files longer than 10000 rows, it hangs waiting fot the step "Output Step metrics" to complete.
I Attached an image of the transformation. Tried to upload the full KTR file, but it has in plain text all the database connection parameters to my firm DBMS. No good :-)

    Thanks in advance

The Output Steps Metric steps is typically used where it is not connected into a stream. I will typically connect a log step to the Output Step metrics to get counts at various points in the transformation. Here is a simple example:

    Name: OutputSteps.jpg

Size: 57.5 KB

I have also attached the simple transformation example. I trust that this will help.

    Thanks
    Ray
