Default Which is the best way to ask for initial parameters to use during trasformation

    Hi all,

I need to have an initial prompt which ask to running trasformation user to pass some parameters (possible formatted in the right way).

For istance I have to ask for "Starting Date" and "Ending Date" (dd/mm/yyyy).
Then I have to add these variable as Between on several SQL queries on singular steps.

Or I need to ask for a variable stored in a table using something like a select box to choose it.

    Many thanks
    Giovanni

I can see a shell script do all that for you.
So long, and thanks for all the fish.

I could be nice a very simple sample of trasformation.
I'm not a programmer and you know code stuff is not so easy to produce... ;-)

A couple links for you =)

After all, teaching how to fish is always better than to give the fish away

First tip: you should try googling for "batch files user input"
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batch_file
    http://ss64.com/nt/
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1...in-another-com
    http://commandwindows.com/batch.htm
    http://www.robvanderwoude.com/userinput.php

or, if the problem isn't creating batch files, but how to use parameters when calling the transformation, you should check Pentaho's wiki:
    http://wiki.pentaho.com/display/EAI/...andlineoptions
    http://wiki.pentaho.com/display/EAI/Named+Parameters

    hope that clears a little
