Thread: Do "parameter" and "variable" mean the same?

Default Do "parameter" and "variable" mean the same?

The usage of the terms "parameter" and "variable" confuses me. Are they synonyms or is there a difference in Kettle?

    Regards

    The difference is VERY subtle.

Parameter is a special type of variable that can be set on the command line. They have to be declared by the Transforms and Jobs for them to work.

Variable is actually static within the run of a transform.

    Does that clear it up?
