Default odd crash in processing step in spoon

Exception in thread "Thread-4253" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Comparison method violates its general contract!

I can't isolate it - turning different things on and off makes it come and go. I can run preview on a step with downstream steps turned off and it works, but if I just run to the same place it fails.
It happens very quickly so I assume it's actually due to processing the graph prior to the actual steps.
Any suggestions as to how I could make it just "go away"?

    Using java7 eh? ( http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7...ct-java-7-only )

Add "-DuseLegacyMergeSort=true" to your JAVA_OPTS when starting Spoon/Kitchen/Pan/Carte

    HTH,

    Tom
Hi - Thanks that does the trick.
Is this a logged issue? Or should I not be using Java7 with Kettle? Presumably it's something in kettle graph processing that's at fault and not my data.

    Hi Tim,

I am not sure if there is a Jira logged for that.
However: You data is not the cause of this error. It´s some part inside the PDI sources which is not quite compatible with Java 7 it seems, caused inside:
    org.pentaho.di.trans.TransMeta.sortStepsNatural(TransMeta.java:4253)

    Cheers,

    Tom
