Default Issue while debugging using set field value step

    Hey guys,

Tried looking for a thread with this but wasn't able to get an answer.

Usually, when I have to debug a specifc column in spoon, I go to its end and begin using "Show output fields". Doing that would give me the name of the last step a column was modified and doing that I could quickly trace the modifications on that field.

The problem is, when using the steps "Set Field Value" or "Set Field Value to a constant", even when they do change the step, it doesn't show up in the "Show output fields". Because of that, when doing maintenance in a big .ktr with lots of that step, I almost have to open step by step until I find the one that modifies it.

Does anyone know a better way to do that kind of maintenance?

Show Output Fields tracks the last step that made changes to the meta data.
Neither "Set Field Value" nor "Set Field Value To Constant" affect the meta data.

IMHO the way the steps are arranged in Spoon has a major influence on maintainability.
Also, I try to keep transformations visible on my screen without scrolling.
Looking for a specific field in a transformation someone else created?
I would find myself knee deep in XML.

That's all I need so far.
So long, and thanks for all the fish.

I didn't figured out it only tracks meta-data changes. Nice to know.

The only way I can see the whole tool in my screen is putting the zoom at 6%. lol. It is a huge tool indeed.

Trying to search for it in the XML seems like a viable option. I hadn't considered it. I suppose I'll give it a try.

    Thank you very much!
