Default Text file Input and long strings treated as exponents

    Hi all

I have CSV files with rather long id-s - more that 20 digits and Text file Input step treats them as exponents (like Excel does by default in its ugly way)

How to get rid of that?

Do you set the field type to be integer? Have you tried to set it as String?

Type is String. I always try to get input as strings and later format since you never know what you are going to get...

If you see the data as exponential, I think that the problem lies with Excel!
I think I had the same issue and decided to find a program that could convert excel files into text files.

If you find a program that has CLI, then you can create a batch file and use Shell step to integrate it within PDI process.
