Thread: Pentaho Remote Execution

  1. #1

    Post Pentaho Remote Execution

I have pentaho BI server running in my local system and the fact table in the remote server, I am trying to connect the server from the table output step database connection option with the hostname as the server ip address and it's database name, username and password and I tried with the three port number 3306, 21 and 22.

But in all the port number it show the connection problem and i refereed in net regards the remote connection from localhost and not getting any exact solution.

Can anyone help me to solve the problem.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Please be specific in which database your fact table is residing and how you are truing to connect through it. Probably , attaching the ktr or screenshot would do good,

    1. Install the MySQL client on your local machine.
    2. Connect to MySQL server from your local machine with the MySQL client you installed in step 1.
    3. Make sure the PDI MySQL plugin is installed
    4. When that works, connect PDI to the MySQL server

You will likely have to adjust the permissions on the MySQL server to allow your host to connect to it.

BTW - I don't know any databases that listen on port 21 or 22.

Go with simple example program, I have only two steps
    1. Table Input - Table locate in my local database
    2. Table Output - Table present in my server database

Now just need to transfer the data from local database to server database without any changes.

    Name: Pentaho01.jpg
Views: 376
Size: 20.1 KB

First I tested my Table input database connection and get the connection status as ok.

    Name: Pentaho02.jpg
Views: 471
Size: 27.8 KB

Then I tested my Table output database connection and get the connection status with following error message, (The port number i used for this connection is 3306).

    Name: Pentaho03.jpg
Views: 393
Size: 40.2 KB

If I changed the server database connection port number from 3306 to 22, then i get the following error message.

    Name: Pentaho04.jpg
Views: 336
Size: 29.5 KB

In this case, I changed my max_allowed_packet variable size locally and globally in both localhost and server, But still getting the same error message.

I'm new to this pentaho if I'm doing anything wrong in the connection process, Please guide me to solve this problem.

    Thanks

Your error messages in those screenshot are unreadable.
Can you copy and paste relevant part of those errors?

Have a few words with your server administrator.

Usually, Port 22 is SSH connection
Usually, Port 21 is FTP connection

From your workstation's command line, what happens when you do
    Code:
    mysql --host=<serverIP> -u <username> -p <password>
using the same values as you are trying to use in PDI?

You don't have connectivity to your DB on port 3306.
Either you have a firewall on the server which is not allowing you to connect, or you have a firewall in your network that is not allowing you to connect.

You will get the same problem when you try to use the MySQL command line as I have suggested you try a few times now.
