Default Kettle 5 strange precision problem with decimal

    Hi,

I recently upgrade my Kettle to version 5. But I found the version has problem with precision,i.e. I have a table within there is a field decimal (6,4) with data in format of xx.xxxx, with input method I can only get the data xx.x. this leads to the incorrect results. But when I change it to varchar, it gets corrected.

Is this an issue of the new version, am I only one who has this problem.

    How do you know?

Have you checked the format string for this particular field?
I bet you will find only one decimal place there.
So long, and thanks for all the fish.

yes, I checked, actually I have 2 tables which have some fields with structure decimal, for one table a field with decimal (11,5), at first I got the same issue, so I used the Step "select value" to try modifying the metadata, I got the same result with xx.xx not xx.xxxx . At last I found a trick solution, in the Input step I gave the select statement just like "select ex_rate*1.00000 from..." and finally I got the data I want. That's not the end, for another table this trick doesn't work. I can only change the type to varchar. I didn't remeber this issue happened in version , perhaps not, 'cause I used version 4 for almost one and a half years.

BTW, I use SQLServer 2005/2008, if this can help find out a solution
