Thread: Can I password-encrypt an Excel file?

  1. #1

Question Can I password-encrypt an Excel file?

I do not see any options for adding a password to encrypt an Excel file when using the "Microsoft Excel Writer" or "Microsoft Excel Output" PDI steps. I see options for protecting sheets, but that's not what I'm looking for. I really need to add a password to the file in order to prevent people from opening file. Is there a feature to do this, and if not, is there a plan to add this as a future update?

Excel file encryption has not been that secure. Look at encrypting discovered (via pattern search) and/or selected columns directly with this tool: iri.com/products/cellshield
