Default Process Binary File in Penthao Kettle

I have recently started using Penthao. I am comfortable processing the flat files and csv file.

Today first time i have started on Binary file processing and spent almost a day for processing it.

I want to read the Binary file and export the data to csv/text file output.

I found this example which looks bit complex do the same stuff.

Just in case you wonder why nobody jumps to the rescue: A sample file is worthless without a documented structure.
The fact that you linked to a COBOL thread doesn't relieve you of explicitly stating that your problem is COBOL related, too.

BTW: Conversion of binary to textual information is always done best in the originating system.
So long, and thanks for all the fish.

All I am trying to understand is how hard or easy is to convert the Binary file into documented structured format.

I need the some pointers before i spent a day or two. Any sample example or document will be helpful to solve this.
