Default Installing a .patch file to Kettle (PDI)

    Hello,

I stumbled across a bug in Kettle (http://jira.pentaho.com/browse/PDI-7196) and downloaded a .patch file to fix it. However, I can't find any documentation online as to how I actually install/apply the patch.

Can someone please provide instructions, or point me in the direction of some, so I can apply the patch to Kettle.

    Thanks.

Note: I am using PDI v5.0.1 on Ubuntu 12.04.

    Hi.
You can't apply patch on existing jars.
You need source code - apply patch to source code - then recompile.

This bug/feature looks like fixed with another bug.
I would say more, you may try to download nightly build from here (this is unofficial and without any warranty advice from this forum strangers)
    http://ci.pentaho.com/view/Data%20In...on/job/Kettle/

and this will (or let's just say may) contain already this patch. (was included in http://jira.pentaho.com/browse/PDI-7243 fix - this is unofficial and without any warranty notice)
    even more.
http://wiki.pentaho.com/display/EAI/JSON+output - this wiki page is a little about how it will be after fix.

I would great appreciate if you try to download nightly build and put some notes if it will be expected result for you.

    Thanks.

    Hi Dzitry,

    Thanks for the advice.

I downloaded and ran the latest nightly build and my transformation job worked correctly. Happy days.

    Thanks,
    Alan
