Default Report based on two queries

Just starting with Pentaho, coming from MS SSRS!
A report needs to display data coming from two distinct queries on the same database. I defined a JDBC Data Source with two queries and tried to add data from both queries into the report: unfortunately I cannot drag onto the report surface the field of a query, if it is not selected with the "Select query" context menu command. Moreover when one query is selected, the field I added from the other query are not displayed.
Maybe I'm not using Pentaho Report Designer the right way: any suggestion for the above scenario (e.g. a report based on two different queries)?
    Thank you in advance, regards

You can use a subreport that could use the second query. Cool part about subreports is that you can add them inline or banded. Depending on your requirements
