Default Schema Workbench freezes after ODBC connection

    Hi Folks,

I am new to Pentaho Community Edition.
My requirement is to create self service reporting.
I have BI sever CE 5.4.0.1-130.
I have Schema Workbench CE 3.10.0.1-130.
Now the issue is that once I define an ODBC DB connection the PSW freezes and I have to quit the application.

Request everyone to give their inputs.
Any response will be highly appreciated!!!
    Thank you

    Cheers

Does the "Test" of the connection also cause it to freeze? Anything in the logs?

    Hi mcampbell,

No, but any kind of action like New>Schema, MDX, etc does get frozen.
Where are the logs saved or is it the command prompt window which is active while working on PSW.
    Thanks for responding!!!
    Thank you

    Cheers

ODBC Connections are not supported in Java 1.8, and have been depreciated for a very long time now.
Try it again with a JDBC connection.

    Really? The same problem?
You're trying to use PSW 3.10 with Java 8?

The original poster mentioned that they solved their problem by using Java 7
The point is ... You cannot use ODBC connections in Java 8.
