Thread: can i run ce edition on a linux server?

    Default can i run ce edition on a linux server?

    I tried to install pdi 5.4 ce edition on a linux redhat server but I get a jre run time error when I try to start spoon!
    error msg reproduced below!

    Yes, it's possible. I have run PDI-CE on Gentoo a number of times.

    However, I usually use pan and kitchen, rather than spoon.
    there was an issue in the forums about the splash screen (you need to edit the .spoonrc file to disable the splash screen) on some versions of Linux in order to run spoon. Remember that you have to have a valid GUI running on the Linux box in order to run spoon (which is not necessary if you are only running pan and kitchen) http://forums.pentaho.com/showthread...taho-5-startup

    running this command fixed the problem for me
