## Line Chart Time Series Question

Hi all,

Imagine this data:
Name - Date - Value

Example A - 2015-12-29 - 100
Example A - 2015-12-30 - 200
Example A - 2015-12-31 - 300

Example B - 2016-12-29 - 300
Example B - 2016-12-30 - 400
Example B - 2016-12-31 - 500
Example B - 2017-01-01 - 600

Is there any way to ignore the year and group by month and day on the x axis? But maintain the originals lines sequence...
I want to do a comparison chart over the years...

Do you want to preserve the year in the series, having series be "Example A ~ 2015", "Example B ~ 2016", "Example B ~ 2017" ?

Then, I imagine that you want some kind of regularity in the X scale, to show months and days, in a linear, temporal scale, so that you can compare the different series...
The problem is that some month/day only exist in certain years... You'd need to use Date values of a constant leap year, like 2016.

Use readers to split the data source columns into multiple dimensions:

Example | Year | MonthDay | Value

Year = Year(Date)
MonthDay = 2016 / Month(Date) / Day(Date)

Configure the MonthDay dimension as having valueType Date, and specify a format that hides the fake year.

Map the series visual role to "Example, Year" and the category visual role to "MonthDay".
