Thread: File format using Text File Output step

Default File format using Text File Output step

Hello everyone, I have a transformation that gets a query from the input table and then writes result to a text file. The problem is that in some transformations the file format is in UTF-8 and another in ASCII. These transformations are configured in exactly the same way.
I would need the file format to be in UTF-8.

    I try set the fields:
    Format: LF terminated(Unix)
    Codification: UTF-8

Any suggestions on why it happens and how I can fix it.A

    Thanks in advance.AC

ASCII encoded files are UTF-8 encoded as well, because ASCII code values represent the first 128 codepoints of UTF-8 - that's compatibility by design.
    So what's your point?

Due to previous requirements I need the output files to be in utf-8 format.

As I said, ASCII is a compatible 7-bit subset of UTF-8.
What makes you think your ASCII files don't qualify as UTF-8 encoded?
So long, and thanks for all the fish.
