Thread: Transformation / Job name based on variable text

  1. #1

Question Transformation / Job name based on variable text

    Hello,

Is possible to set the transformation or job name with the text from a variable?

    For example:

    Name: variableName.png
Views: 211
Size: 7.7 KB

I've already tried setting the variable at different levels (root job, jvm, etc) and can't get this.

    I'm using PDI 7.0.0.0-25

    Thanks.

    Jorge

Fields supporting variable substitution are marked with a dollar sign icon.
The field you depicted is not.
So long, and thanks for all the fish.

    Hello marabu,

Maybe the documentation is not well updated, because you can use variables on other several fields without the dollar icon, for example on the "Write lo log" under Jobs steps, the "Log message" field is not marked but you can use variables with no problems.

    Any idea?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

The job-entry name is used only to identify uniquely each job entry in a job meta.
So you cannot ask ut replaces your runtime variable because it must exists before runtime is set.
    So the answer is no.

Question: what's the use case? If you want to log the value of variable, do it in a
log job entry before your trans execution.
