Default Need help setting up my first PDI Server

    Hi Guys,

I need to schedule tasks to be runned in specific times for my work.
I was using just Spoon installed on a AWS server on Windows Server 2012.

Because I'm looking foward save some money my wish is to the PDI be installled on a Linux server.
My doubts are that the installation tutorials all show the need to use some desktop environment on it.

So which OS is better to install and manage the PDI ?
What Specs do you recommend on my instance ?
Any other tips are welcome too.

    Thxs a lot guys.

You need desktop enviroment to develop your jobs and transformations, using spoon, which you usually do on your PC which the OS you use, but to run them once you have the final version you don't need a graphical enviroment, you run them through kitchen.sh (jobs) or pan.sh (transformations). That's what I'm doing at work, I have a PC running Ubuntu, but our server to run the production version of my jobs and transformations is a Debian server without graphical (it hasn't even the X-Windows libraries installed to display the output in my PC)
If you have to deal with paths it's easier to work with the same OS in your PC and the server (so you don't have issues with differences between working with C:\paths and /paths) but it's not mandatory.
    OS: Ubuntu 16.04 64 bits
    Java: Openjdk 1.8.0_131
    Pentaho 6.1 CE
