missing context from pivot4j

We are prototyping Pentaho on two different systems. Pivot4j was loaded on both systems. On one system data from a data sources is visible and it is not on the second. We are at a loss. Is there a log that would indicate the difference in the systems? Is there a configuration file that can be checked?
The only difference in the process is the system that is working is being run as admin. The system that is not working the data sources were developed from a user while pivot4j was loaded via the admin user.

Follow up actions: The problem still persists. There were other packages installed. They have been removed. The data sources tab shows the data wizard. pivot4j was refreshed. pivot4j shows up in the drop down menu. However it does not find the saved wizard. Neither the example steelwheels nor the local test db show up. This seems like an environment variable. Is there any setup to pivot4j?
